Dear Collegues-
Continuing the promotion of research collaboration, Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland’s Dietrich Diabetes Research Institute (DDRI) and Case School of Medicine are pleased to present the fourth annual Diabetes Research Retreat, Friday, November 16, 2007, at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven. This cross-institutional, cross-discipline Retreat will once again bring together investigators from the diverse Cleveland-area biomedical institutions to create synergy and increased opportunities for cross-fertilization of ideas.
Join more than 200 diabetes researchers from northeast Ohio at this premier scientific symposium, “Bernard R. Landau: A Life in Diabetes Research”.
This year’s all-day Retreat is dedicated to the work and memory of Bernard R. Landau, MD, PhD. We are honored to have a cadre of people who have worked with Dr. Landau over the years presenting their research at the Retreat. These internationally renowned investigators will ensure a scientific program of the highest caliber – and one that echoes the high quality of research for which Dr. Landau was known:
- John Wahren MD PhD, Professor of Clinical Physiology, Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden;
- Gerald I. Shulman, MD, PhD, Professor of Medicine and Cellular & Molecular Physiology, Yale School of Medicine; Investigator, Howard Hughes Medical Institute;

- Guenther Boden, MD, Section Chief, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, Temple University School of Medicine; and
- Richard N. Bergman, PhD, Professor and Chair, Department of Physiology & Biophysics,Keck Chair, Keck School of Medicine of University of Southern California.
Formal award announcements of the 2007 DDRI Collaborative Grant awards will be made. Grant recipients will present an overview of their projects and engage the audience in an exchange of ideas about collaborative work. Active participation is encouraged during these discussions.
Posters will provide another avenue for the exchange of ideas and information with time allotted for discussion with the authors. Please refer to the Call for Poster Abstracts for more information. The deadline for Submission of Abstracts is October 26, 2007.
Please register online. The deadline for registration is November 9, 2007. Due to great interest, we encourage you to register early.
