General Grant-In-Aid Information
Eligibility:
Applicants must have completed their training prior to the initiation of the grant
Applications will be accepted from investigators whose eligible institution accepts his/her ability to apply for a research grant.
Eligible applicant organizations must be located within:
Cuyahoga County, Ohio, USA
Lake County, Ohio, USA
Geauga County, Ohio, USA
Lorain County, Ohio, USA
Medina County, Ohio, USA
Summit County, Ohio, USA
Grant Requirements and Details:
An investigator may submit only one project for consideration during a single grant cycle.
Maximum Grant-in-Aid awarded: $47,000 a year
Applications are accepted once each year
The award is made to the organization. If the investigator leaves that institution s/he may continue the work only if it is done at an eligible institution. Funding does not follow the investigator if s/he moves to an institution outside the DAGC service area.
Quarterly payments are made to the applicant organization in January, April, July, and October.
Applicant organization assumes financial and legal accountability for the awarded funds and performance of the supported activities.
Applicant organization is responsible for verifying the accuracy, validity, and conformity with the current institutional guidelines of all information in the application.
Review Criteria
General Review Criteria:
The review and selection process is the responsibility of DAGC’s Research Review Committee (RRC).
All projects will be evaluated primarily on scientific merit.
Highest priority will be given to applications from new investigators seeking initial support in diabetes research.
Established investigators seeking their initial support for work on problems pertinent to diabetes and established diabetes investigators seeking pilot support for new ventures will also be considered.
Established diabetes investigators seeking adjunctive or interim support for ongoing projects will be considered, but at a lower priority.
Recipients of DDRI grants for the prior year will be considered, but at a lower priority.
Specific Review Criteria:
The scientific value of the project and its significance for diabetes including the degree to which it might open up or develop new fields of investigation, or, supplement work already done or in progress.
The adequacy of study design and proposed methodology.
The qualifications of the principal investigator and associates.
The adequacy of facilities and working environment.
The appropriateness of the budget requested to the work being proposed.
