To fulfill its commitment to advance research in diabetes, DAGC’s Dietrich Diabetes Research Institute is issuing this Request for Applications for challenge grants in diabetes research.
DDRI will award 3 collaborative grants of up to $46,000 per project. One-to-one matching funds must be obtained by the investigators to make the maximum total of $92,000 per project. Availability of matching funds (new dollars reflecting a commitment by the institution and/or department - no 'in-kind' matches) must be documented in the research proposal.
Consistent with the mission of DDRI, these grant awards are intended to stimulate cooperative research among investigators in different institutions, disciplines, and departments with a focus on a clearly identified diabetes-related research project. Priority will be given to inter-institutional proposals. Applicants must have a faculty appointment at a northeast Ohio institution.
Formal award announcements will be made at the annual Diabetes Research Retreat on November 17, 2006 at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven. Awardees will be invited to present their projects and engage in an interactive discussion with the participants at the Retreat.
Proposal deadline: September 15, 2006
